Family Run

From Maggie Heaney and her ancestors right down to Niall and Ali who run the centre here at Loughcrew.

The farm and cottage has supported many generations and will continue to be a home and cherished part of life to the people living here.

History

You'll have to visit our gallery or a look at the many photos on display in our coffee shop to get a glimpse of life through the ages.

Together with our cottage, family trees, video interviews, stories and tales passed on we can recreate some of the events from years gone by.

The View

With the sun rising above Carnbane east in the morning and setting behind Mullaghmeen forest in the evening, we appreciate the view all year round.

When you visit you can share this with us and relax in a truly countryside setting.

About Loughcrew Megalithic Centre

Our centre was opened on March 1st 2015

Located in the rolling hills of Loughcrew, it enhances the visit to the Cairns for everybody. We know how important the megalithic sites are and the necessity to preserve and protect them. To fully understand and enjoy the 5,ooo year old monuments, you have to delve a little deeper and unearth the story of the witch, the farmers and masterful engineers that built them, the celts, the pagans, Queen Maeve, the Children of Lir, Olladh Fodhla and many more. Here at Loughcrew we are fascinated by these stories and hope to pass them on to you when you visit.
